    if you have a table of logarithms:

    take the log of "x"

    say y = log(x)

    divide that number by 2
    y/2

    look up the antilog of (y/2)

    that is the sqrt(x)

    say you want to find the square root of 29
    then i find the square number before it and the square number right after it.
    5^2=25
    6^2=36
    29 is in between these square numbers but closer to 25
    therefore the square root should be ~5.4
    closer to 5

    There are other methods, see for example:

    here’s a little table to help you out.. I suggest to use it to write down some.
    1 = 1
    2 = 4
    3 = 9
    4 = 16
    5 = 25
    6 = 36
    7 = 49
    8 = 64
    9 = 81
    10 = 100
    11 = 121
    12 = 144
    13 = 169
    14 = 196
    15 = 225
    16 = 256
    17 = 289
    18 = 324
    19 = 361
    20 = 400
    21 = 441
    22 = 484
    23 = 529
    24 = 576
    25 = 625

    if you know most your basics, you should be able to identify which whole numbers to use. without a calculator, and it’s the square root of like 2.. (1.414) or 7 (2.645).. you would have to use a calculator or just do some guessing about it.

    a calculator helped me out on the ones that I didn’t know..
    I hope you have fun..
    here’s a little funfact about a square root
    390625 = 625 = 25 = 5 = 2.236

    let us take an example of 625
    mark a bar on two digits from th unit digit on top.
    now see that 6 is divisible by which square number(i mean 2*2 ,3*3…..)
    so its 2
    you just put 625 into division symbol
    2
    2/625
    / 4(subtract 4 from 6)
    /225
    multiply the quotient x2
    so you get 4
    now see the following
    41*1=41
    42*2=84
    43*3=129
    44*4=176
    45*5=225
    so
    25
    2 /625
    / 4
    45 /225
    /225

    this is the method repeat this for any number for which you want to find the square root
    ihope u understood.

    example : square root of 144

    find the prime factors of 144 that is :2 to the power of 4 multiplied by 3 squared.
    split it into 2 groups = (2 squared x 3) x (2squared x 3 )
    /(2squared x 3)squared

    So the square root of 144 is = 2squared x 3
    = 12
