Betty’s No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Squares Recipe

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Squares. This was a special request from her son-in-law, Chris, who preferred these cookies to the traditional birthday cake for his birthday celebration! They are dark chocolate flavor, and contain peanut butter and oatmeal, making them more nutritious than the average cookie.

Ingredients:

½ cup milk
¼ cup butter or margarine, melted
½ cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup smooth or chunky peanut butter
2 ½ cups quick-cooking oats

Place ½ cup milk, ¼ cup melted butter or margarine, ½ cup cocoa, and 2 cups sugar into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ cup peanut butter, and 2 ½ cups quick-cooking oats. You may finish these cookies up in a couple of ways. 1) Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper, and let set up for about ½ hour or 2) Pour mixture into a large (13-inch by 9-inch by 2-inch) greased pan and cool, then cut into equally-sized squares. This is a traditional cookie recipe in my part of the country. These cookies are great as snacks for children, and are great as lunchbox items, but big kids like them, too!

Can I substitute chocolate baking chips for baking chocolate squares?

I have a recipe that calls for 6 ounces of unsweetened baking chocolate squares and 2 oz of semi-sweet baking chocolate squares. Can I substitute the 2 ounces of semi sweet baking chocolate for 2 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips? The recipe involves a molten lava cake and I don’t know if this would change the outcome of the recipe. Thanks!

How many different rectangles which are not squares can be found on a chess board? (A chess board has 8 rows
and 8 columns of squares. A rectangle on the board is a collection of squares that form a rectangular piece of the
whole board. Two rectangles are different if they have different sets of squares. A rectangle with an unequal number
of rows and columns is not square.)

3by1 = 6 possible per row x 16 possible = 96
4by1 = 5 possible per row x 16 possible = 80
and so on down to…
7by1 = 2 possible per row X 16 possible = 32
8by1 = 1 possible per row x 16 possible = 16

Add those up and get 448

3by2= 6 possible per row x 14 possible rows = 98
repeat for all (4by2, 5by2, 6by2, 7by2…) i get 280

Keep doing this for all combinations. I get 1092.

What are the little color squares used by photographers?

I recently saw some proofs shots of some models and there are several shots of them holding litlle color squares, about 8" X10" looks like a color guide???? what are this color things used for and how.

It’s called The Macbeth Color Checker, used for color correction.

In college we used to use it with this machine that would read any square and tell us what the color value was. then we would correct it while printing. Photoshop is a bit faster now.
