My yard is 72 square feet and twice as long as it is wide.
l * w = 72 feet
l=2 * w
Substitute 2 * w in for l and you get
2 * w * w = 72 feet
w * w = 72 / 2
Simplify:
w^2 = 36
sqrt(w^2) = sqrt(36)
